IHOP just signed a 49-year lease last week for a West Village location. According to The Real Deal, the establishment located on 80 Carmine Street, will open in November and have 10,000 square feet with a first floor, basement, and enclosed patio. It sounds like an epic pancake experience. IHOP's East Village location has a nightclub-style bouncer to keep the intoxicated late-night crowd under control, and is open 24 hours a day. It has also warranted complaints from local residents due to the omnipresent odor of bacon. It seems like there are worse things city residents could be smelling than fresh bacon, but I guess it's more of a morning smell.
