another good italian restaurant in Greenwich Village that's a little more reasonably priced is La Lanterna di Vittorio. 129 MacDougal St. great authentic italian food. Outdoor garden with waterfall in the summer and a cozy fireplace with jazz music in the winter. Great date place.

it's called Il Mulino in Greenwich Village. yes they're prices are a little high but it really is the best Italian in the manhattan! 86 W 3rd St (between Thompson St & Sullivan St) go at least one time just for the amazing experience. From service to food to ambiance. Not a restaurant meal you could afford very often (in your lifetime) - but definitely worth every penny!
