One of the italian restaurants I enjoy the most is a little place called Il Fornaio on Mulberry St in Little Italy. They are different then most of the restaurants that surround them. There is no man at the front with a menu aggresively asking (begging) you to eat there and the interior is very nice and modest. It is like eating at someone's home in some ways. There are two dining areas, one is a bright with white tiled walls and the other is a little darker, a little romantic. Neither are very big. The food and service is consistently good. An added bonus is the large windows in the front that they open in the warm months that allow you to people watch while you eat.

Depending what kind of food you're into- if you're open to eating different types of food. but the best malaysian place to go is called Nyonya. To make this place even more credible, a friend who is from Malaysia recommended this place. But on a side note- I have ate at a couple of the Italian restaurants, they're all good but nothing really to brag about.

yeah Nick's right, the only reason to go to that area would be to eat Asian food. seems weird right?! Asian restaurant called Nyonya in that area is a great place. I think it's Malaysian food. 199 Grand St (between Mulberry St & Mott St)

Little Italy is pretty much a tourist trap which makes the food quality pretty low there. If you are in Little Italy looking for good italian walk up a few blocks into nolita and go to a place called Peasant 194 Elizabeth St(between Prince St & Spring St). If you must eat in Little Italy Angelos is best. 146 Mulberry St (between Hester St & Grand St)
